On 20 September 2021, International Biomass Torrefaction Council, together with World Bioenergy Association, hosted a webinar entitled “Agricultural Residues Valorisation – Opportunities with Torrefaction”.
Over 100 participants were able to learn more about industry, its technology, benefits of torrefied biomass and much more!
The webinar was introduced by Cristina Calderon (IBTC), followed by an introductory explanation of agricultural biomass, potential characteristics and costs by Christian Rakos (WBA), and a presentation of Biomass Torrefaction, basics of the technology, main benefits, applications and market situation given by Michael Wild (IBTC). Afterwhich, Jaap Kiel (TNO) gave a presentation on eliminating some limiting features of agricultural biomass by pre- or post-treatment.
In the second section of the webinar, within the panel debate with Bart de Vries (Perpetual Next), Javier Gil Barno (CENER), Joris Spaan (Yilkins), Viktor Radic (Polytechnik), James A. Mennell (National Carbon Technologies), Wolfgang Moser, Nextfuel AB), discussions encompassed industry experiences, as well as offers.
Following this, an intercative Q&A session took place, divided in 3 sessions: Consumers Perspective – Performance of the Material, Feedstock Aspects, and Torrefaction Technology.
